Deepening Connection
I never know where to start. Ive written and erased about 3 times now. All I know is that I have the urge to write…
Im giving this another go… just go. Have you ever tried automatic writing? I purchased this book (I never got around to finishing it) called the “The Artist Way”and it’s about finding inspiration. It’s actually a really great book that I hope to finish soon. In this book the author Julia Cameron suggests automatic writing in the morning as soon as you wakeup to help free up some mental space, she recommends writing at least 3 pages. When I used to do this practice 3 pages felt like a lot and sometimes I would draw my way through, haha gotta work smart not harder. Anyway, i’m trying that practice here. Im just automatically typing my thoughts as they come. It’s definitely helpful and doing so I made it through a paragraph, yay! My english professor would be so proud.
Okay now that I feel I have some direction, let me take you there.
Since the start of the new year, my mind has been on go while my body has been on slow. I have had so many ideas that I have been eager to actualize but my body has been like “Girl, let’s rest.” Normally, I wouldn’t listen to my body but as of late i’ve been trying to respect myself more as a whole. And to start, one must start with the body, our Holy Temple.
I started the documentary Stutz byJonah Hill and it’s very good. Ive noticed a lot of my own practices are discussed by his therapist and honestly, it makes me feel like I could be a therapist because I legit have done and thought about the practices/philosophies Stutz speaks about in the film. It was pretty affirming for me on my journey of healing and integration. I highly recommend you watch it. he talks about Life force energy and he depicts it as a pyramid.
The bottom layer is the body — to bring it back to my point — the body is the foundation of our life force. Without our body, we would not be here. Our body houses our spirit and it’s so important to keep it a safe space for our own well being. That being said, my body has been speaking to me so clearly and listening to it has honestly saved me from a lot. Do you feel headaches on a regular, heart or chest pain? stomach issues? Im a firm believer that the body stores e-motion and transforms it into illness or disease. Here are some books I recommend for learning about the body and how it speaks:
Heal Your Body (or any Louise Hay book)
I appreciate you for taking the time to take my thoughts in, I hope they’ve inspired you.
We’re all on the same journey, the journey of self discovery, if you don’t know where to start just start right here… in your body. For it is sacred and safe.
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
